Heewon Kim

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Science, Technology, and Policy at KAIST. My dissertation, "Coding Faces, Making Actions: Understanding the Human Through Faces 1960 – 2000," is focused on the histories of the sciences and the technologies of recognizing facial expressions and emotions in the United States. My broader interest is in how technologies shape the cultural meaning of human bodies and the history of disaster memorials in South Korea.
