Heejin Choi / 최희진

Welcome! I'm Heejin Choi, a postdoctoral associate at the Division of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota, working under the supervision of Prof. Xiao Zang.  

My research lies at the intersection of mathematical modeling, AI, and public health. I am broadly interested in developing mathematical models of various public health problems that capture complex dynamics and provide evidence-based insights.

I received my Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from UNIST (2025, under the supervision of Prof. Chang Hyeong Lee, where my research focused on mathematical modeling of infectious disease dynamics and the quantitative evaluation of public health interventions. As a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Minnesota, I have expanded my methodology to include microsimulation modeling, applying it to the opioid and stimulant overdose crisis to suggest evidence-based guidance for prevention and response policies across the U.S.
