Workday Payroll Issues

SEIU Update

January 31st Email from SEIU:

Over the last six months, we’ve shared the importance for State employees to scrutinize their paystubs and check that the state has properly withheld taxes. We’ve shared concerns that some workers’ tax withholdings might have been affected by the Workday payroll transition. Last week, the state emailed all employees with instructions on how to review their W-2s. We strongly urge you to do this soon, so you have time to address any surprises or potential errors.

Tax Return Townhall

We’re holding two Townhalls over the next two weeks with tax professionals from Aldrich CPAs to give a presentation about how to handle incorrect withholdings when filing your taxes. They will also take questions and give general advice about potential issues with W-2s or unexpected issues with tax refunds. Register here for one of two sessions if you would like to attend.

Additional Tax Resources

The state previously agreed to reimburse employees up to $100 for services from a tax professional. Recently, we learned that they no longer provide that reimbursement. Our Union has not only asked them to continue the reimbursement, but we have also asked them to increase the amount. As of now, we have not heard back on this request.

We are working to identify other resources available to workers that need support on their taxes and will share updates on our Workday website.

How You Can Help

We’re collecting stories about how State workers have been impacted by the Workday transition. Share your story with us today and we will pass it along to State decision makers! These stories will be shared with state decision makers as we continue to organize around this issue and push them to settle our grievances and to re-establish the reimbursement for tax services.
