What are the different types of events?
Individual Series — Events for competitors that want to compete alone
Team Decision Making — Events for competitors that want to compete in teams of two
Roleplay Events - Study industry research in your category, receive a prompt at competition, come up with solutions and ideas for the prompt in 10 minutes, and then present those ideas to your judge.
Written Events — Perform research, write a paper, and create a presentation before the competition date to present to the judges
Virtual Events — Computer-based simulation competition that is online and lasts over a period of time

Written Event Explanations -
Written events are one of the best ways to immerse yourself into the realm of DECA competitive events. It gives you great exposure to different aspects of the business field. In comparison to role-play events, written events give you more time to research and understand the background of the problem you are trying to solve.
Business Operations Research Events provide opportunities for participants to demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed by management personnel
Chapter Team Events provide opportunities for participants to engage chapter members in large-scale school and/or community activities
