Heatprint is built with privacy as the default. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains exactly what that means in practice.
We do not:
Create user accounts or ask for your name, email, phone number, or address
Use analytics SDKs (no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no Segment, no anything)
Use ad networks, ad SDKs, or tracking pixels
Read your contacts, photos, microphone, or files
Request the iOS location permission. You can search for facilities by city, but the app never asks for your device location.
Sell, share, or rent data to any third party
There is no Heatprint server. The app runs entirely on your device and talks directly to a handful of public data providers, listed below.
The following information is stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults storage and is never sent to any server we operate:
Your favorited facilities
Your map style preference and last map camera position
Your onboarding state and persona selection
Your offline-saved facility list and the cached climate data payload
Any API tokens you enter in Settings (see next section)
Whether you have purchased the Pro unlock (Apple's StoreKit is the authoritative source; we keep a local mirror so the UI doesn't flash "free" on launch)
If you delete the app, all of this is removed with it.
Heatprint displays data fetched from public APIs when you open a facility's detail view or refresh the facility list:
NOAA Climate Data Online — sends your NOAA token + the facility's latitude/longitude. Returns temperature normals and recent annual averages. https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/cdo-web/
EPA AirNow — sends your AirNow API key + the facility's latitude/longitude. Returns current AQI and dominant pollutant. https://www.airnow.gov
U.S. Drought Monitor (USDA / UNL) — sends the facility's county (looked up via the FCC's public area API). Returns drought-severity percentages. https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu
EPA eGRID 2023 — no network call. The dataset is bundled in the app.
PeeringDB — the periodic facility-list refresh queries PeeringDB's public read-only API. No personal information is sent. https://www.peeringdb.com
We do not act as a middleman for any of these requests — they go directly from your device to the third party. Each provider's terms of use and privacy practices apply to those interactions.
The API tokens you enter for NOAA and AirNow are stored locally on your device and are transmitted only to those respective services as part of API requests you initiate by opening a facility.
If you buy the Heatprint Pro unlock, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple via the App Store and Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not see your payment information. Apple shares with us only the anonymous record that a transaction occurred (and whether it remains valid), so the app can keep your Pro features unlocked.

If you have enabled "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash logs and performance metrics with us. We use these only to diagnose stability issues. We do not receive any personal information through this channel. You can opt out at any time in iOS Settings.
Heatprint is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has somehow been able to share information with us, please contact us at vuniqueprodaction@gmail.com and we will investigate.
Because we do not collect any personal information, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, or delete on our servers — there are no servers. If you want all data Heatprint ever held about you removed, delete the app from your device. That's the complete process.
If you are in the EU, the UK, California, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, etc.), those rights still apply. To exercise them, email vuniqueprodaction@gmail.com. In practice our answer will usually be "we never collected anything about you in the first place," but we are happy to confirm that in writing on request.
If we change anything about our privacy practices, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If the change affects what data the app processes, we will surface an in-app notice on next launch.
