I was born in the small town of Seneca, Kansas. I have one older brother, and my parents are currently divorced. My brother and I are 4 years apart. My mother struggled to conceive children so she had an in virto implant. Out of the many trials, only my brother and I were born. My friends call me the “dish baby”; however, I consider it to be a miracle for my brother and me to be here today. I look very similar to my mother and I think that's why I have the closest connection with her.
I started playing sports. For example, I would play softball in the summer and soccer in the fall. I remember I was too shy to speak to any of my teammates, and cowardly waited for my mom to come to pick me up. Looking back, I despised playing softball. The dirt got in my eyes and I was sweaty and had to wait for the ball to come to me. I quit at a young age, and I don’t regret it. Soccer grew on me. I started enjoying the sport and looked forward to practices and games. I liked running down the field and getting aggressive. Soccer was the reason I started to enjoy track. I love beating my personal best and getting faster. Receiving medals and ribbons made me persevere. I grew closer to my relay teams and started to make closer friends. At meets, I started to become less timid. My involvement with the school continued when I ran for a position in Student Council. I enjoy helping and being part of an organization that has opportunities for the school to improve. I also am still doing track. My freshman year, we made it to state and got first. This achievement was one of the highlights of high school. It is now my senior year and achieved so much since freshman year. I have two school records in track (hoping for more), I was accepted into college, I work as a CNA and love it, and the list goes on. I'm excited about the future.
In middle school, I got my first job working at the family business, the Willows. I worked in the mornings with my grandma, and we would prep the food for that night. This occurrence with my grandma brought me closer to her. I enjoy spending time with her and going over to her house. She helps me in so many ways. When I need my pants altered or my dress she is willing to help. I love baking with her and love spending as much quality time with her as possible.
I am currently in high school and have grown out of my shell. I joined many organizations to help me grow and connect with classmates. FCCLA, KAYs, and SADD are the ones that I’ve been a part of since freshman year. In FCCLA, I had fun with the activities like secret Santa, the lock-in, and the dinner theater. In KAYs I was able to grow on fundraising and community service. Every month, there is an act of kindness, and it feels good to be a part of it.
