HeartAngel is designed to be a functional, life-transforming, and practical tool that could help bystanders increase confidence when performing compressions in both cardiac arrest emergencies or just practice settings.
HeartAngel's practice section contains a carousel of slides instructing people interested in learning the CPR process by introducing them to:
How to respond appropriately during a real cardiac arrest emergency
How to perform high-quality chest compressions, including proper hand placement
How to use the app effectively to support CPR practice and learning
To the left is a preview of the instructional carousel featured in the app's Practice mode
Emergency Mode activates during a real cardiac arrest situation and guides users through CPR with clear on-screen prompts and audio instructions. Simple “Yes” and “No” buttons help users move through each step while the app provides real-time feedback on compression depth and pace. This allows inexperienced responders to perform CPR effectively in high-stress situations.
HeartAngel’s Connected Responder Network links users with nearby trained volunteers and emergency responders. During a cardiac arrest, the app sends alerts and push notifications to registered responders so they can quickly assist and provide support.
Example of the push notification is below and it will directly guide you to the scene of the emergency via your preffered map service (google maps, apple maps, etc.)
The app also includes an AED map that helps users locate nearby AEDs and view basic information about their status. This allows any bystanders to quickly locate the nearest AED and reduce panic and uncertainty while accelerating the life-saving process and effiency.
Hi, I am Catherine Wang, a current high schooler at St. Margaret's Episcopal Schoool. I created HeartAngel to make CPR practice more accessible to everyday people who want to learn lifesaving skills and for those who might encounter a cardiac emergency and wants to lend a hand but doesn't feels hesitant or unassured. With HeartAngel, it lends many individuals a "hand" to take action and to save lives.
HeartAngel was honored to be named the 1st Place winner of the Congressional App Challenge for California’s 49th District, hosted by Mike Levin. You can read more about this recognition at the link below.
