The Rising Sun

Directed by Ed Blunden

Music Directed by Michael Stebbings

Choreography by Ed Blunden and Nicole Rush

Inside the Rising Sun pub, people come and share their troubles by either complaining about them or trying to get over it. This revue centres around the theme of overcoming some kind of obstacle, whether it be love, loss, hate, anger, confusion or displacement. The audience will enter the world of the "characters" that are visiting the Rising Sun for the night and begin to see and empathise with their struggles that cover aspects from the past, present and future.

With a variety of songs from artists such as Queen, Green Day, Ed Sheeran and Elton John, this revue promises to offer audiences a great night out at your new local.

Director's Note

"Directing has always been a scary prospect for me and it’s still scary as I write this. Even having my name on the poster freaks me out. But all the stress and fears are worth it when you see the wonderful cast giving so much on stage to what was once a small idea in your head.

I’m so lucky to be in the company of the talented Wellington Footlights and the support they have given me over this whole process has been incredible. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to work with. They put their faith in me as a first time director and I can say that, without question, they will take the revue and make it something very, very special."
