The Hearsall Family Science Discussion Club offers a unique opportunity to engage the local community, who choose to spend evenings away from screens, in thought-provoking, open scientific discussions. The club aligns well with fostering impactful community initiatives, encouraging both adults and children's participation in structured yet informal dialogue.
The club is envisioned as a series of informal gatherings held every few months, embedded in the welcoming atmosphere of the Hearsall Community Academy Primary School. The format will remain relaxed and conversational, aiming to spark genuine interest and encourage audience questions. The guest speakers will be real scientists and science communicators from local and national centres of excellence from diverse fields such as physics, astronomy, medicine, biology, economics, and more. Overall, the Hearsall Science Discussion Club aspires to cultivate curiosity, foster community dialogue, and inspire both children and adults through accessible and engaging scientific discussions.
During the session, the children will also have the opportunity to take part in some science lead activities with a member of staff from Hearsall Academy. This will be linked to the session taking place and offer the opportunity for further family discussions at home too.
