John J. Bulger

John moved to Idaho in 2008 after practicing law in Montana for 18 years. He is a member of both the Idaho and Montana bars.

He attended the University of Montana in Missoula where he received a B.A. in Journalism in 1984. He received his Juris Doctorate from Montana in 1988. After graduation, John was chosen to clerk for Montana Supreme Court Justice John Sheehy. After Judge Sheehy’s retirement, he clerked for Justice Terry Trieweiler.

John worked in the public sector for 15 years, immersed in a wide variety of litigation, including personal injury, contract law, family law and criminal law. He also served as a judge-appointed special master in the Montana district court system, overseeing civil and family law cases. A strong advocate for victims of domestic violence, he has donated countless hour of representation for those seeking protection from their abusers.

John was a hearing officer for the State of Idaho for several years, presiding over hundreds of cases, all involving tax payer funds, with values of millions of dollars.

John was recently recognized by the Idaho State Bar for his pro bono (no charge) legal work undertaken for the last decade.
