Being one's best self—both mind and body—sets the stage for better social success getting a job and relating with families in non-clashing ways. In turn, financial hardship is reduced and, thus, a motive to offend is decreased. Looking forward, the role that a reentry-minded church will play in the reentry process will likely extend beyond social life and, also, positively impact physical and emotional health.
A mentor can help you tell your story and lend credibility to your efforts. Stay humble, Keep trying.
Reuniting with family after incarceration is possibly THE most important factor for successful reentry. However, not everyone has this option. Time and other circumstances can take a toll on the health and dynamics of our family. This is also true of those walking in freedom. However, "Kingdom" family or church family can be a rich experience and can continue to grow. It is very important to give yourself the freedom to feel awkward as you ask for help and reach out to those that offer to help. Yes, you are worth it.
