" We [Angels for Action] were very honored to have received more food during the month of May that enabled us to help even more people. Super thanks to Belal and Humanity First USA, United Way, Plainfield YMCA, The city restaurant and all the countless individual contributions. For May we helped feed more than 10,000 individuals, about 2,000 families.
We want to have a special shout out to our volunteers who have tirelessly been sorting food/clothing, delivering to homes, helping people with the Census, filling out employer applications, and making sure everything is working smoothly in the background. Especially to a volunteer from Humanity First who had given the very shoes from his feet to give to a man in need! Thank you!" - The Angels for Action Team
The Angels for Actions mentioned the following in their Facebook Page: "We [Angels for Action] want to shine some light on other people who volunteer their time to buy supplies out from their own pockets, they have been helping to bring food and clothing to the people of Plainfield!"
Angels for Action helped more than 8,406 individuals
Angels for Action started as a temporary pop-up food pantry and have been donating hot meals and non-perishables since April non-stop. Since April and with a small team, Angels for Action have been honored to help feed more than 8406 Individuals and 2200 households.
Angels for Action is very grateful for the local business's contributing to the food relief for Plainfield residents especially when their own businesses have been affected by COVID as well. "We would like to shout out to Access self storage for their donations and Groove BBQ for contributing the whole month of July. Even bigger thanks to the owners and teams working at Pueblo Viejo and our biggest support throughout these past several months - The City Restaurant had been so ever giving and been there since we started. When we support local business, we all help each other. Angels for Action also thanked the huge assistance with Humanity First, Belal Khalid and United Way [of Greater Union County], that have made the relief to the Plainfield community possible." - Angels for Action.

Humanity First is a global non-profit relief organization that works to combat poverty, hunger, and illiteracy around the world. Humanity First has been actively helping NJ residents for many years on various fronts by holding blood drives, providing relief and assistance to the victims of various natural disasters including Sandy and others, assisting local schools by providing book bags, teaching financial literacy courses to students in schools in underprivileged areas, supporting various mentorship programs and hosting various clothing and food drives for people in need.
Since the residents of Plainfield were greatly impacted by COVID-19, Humanity First was looking to start a food distribution program in Plainfield. Belal Khalid from Humanity First reached out to the mayor’s office, who connected him with Carmen Salvarrieta, the Director of Angels for Action. Humanity First started a partnership with Angels for Action of Plainfield NJ that has a facility in Plainfield to assist the people of Plainfield impacted by the pandemic. Initially, Humanity First partnered with a restaurant, LalHut in Iselin who made fresh hot meals that were distributed through Angels for Action. A few weeks later, Ahmad Halal Meat and Fish restaurant also offered to provide hot meals. In addition to these two restaurants, Humanity First was many times able to get donations from Whole Foods as well. So far, Humanity First has provided meals for about more than 2000 people in Plainfield. In addition, Humanity First provided 500 face masks, fruits, non-perishable food, and clothes as well.
On Saturday, May 2nd, Adrian O. Mapp, the mayor of Plainfield and the first lady visited our distribution center in Plainfield and distributed food to the people of Plainfield. On Monday, May 4th, Humanity First also assisted United Ways in distributing food to the 10 different agencies of Plainfield. Humanity First and Angles for Action are constantly reviewing the situation in Plainfield and continuously providing different types of assistance to the residents.
Humanity First and Angels for Action are very grateful to so many people who have volunteered for the food deliveries, LalHut and Ahmad Halal Meat restaurants for providing hot meals on weekly basis, Whole Foods for providing various types of perishable and non-perishable food and members of the local community who made 500 face masks and many other volunteers and members who have been assisting in many different ways and make this happen. With the unity and compassion of the community, we would be able to beat this common enemy and we will get through this pandemic stronger than before.
