The Philippine Children's Medical Center Healthcare Library supports the information needs of its medical and allied health staff by providing comprehensive and accessible source of medical information available in any format (electronically or printed). Library services and facilities were upgrade, specifically the Virtual Library, where the use of online technology is available.


This below guidelines on the use of Medical Library and Internet usage is hereby disseminated for implementation:


GENERAL GUIDELINES/POLICIES

1. All library services shall only be availed upon filling out of the available library forms which can be secured from the Librarian-In-Charge as follows:

a) Attendance Sheet Form

b) Reference Request Form

c) Service Request Form

d) Discussion Room Reservation Form

2. Use of Internet and Wi-Fi in the Medical Library shall be for research and other PCMC related functions only (e.g. E-Consult, PCMC authorized webinars).

2.1. The following acts are strictly prohibited:

a. Accessing websites/resources through Medical Library desktop computers for non-research related activities such as games, social media, and other unauthorized downloads and applications. (Refer to Medical Center Memorandum No.112 s.2010)

b. Downloading, archiving, storing, and d distributing of pirated software or data, and sexually explicit materials.

c. Propagating of any virus, worm, and any harmful computer hacks.

d. Unauthorized uploading of any software licensed to PMCM or data owned by PCMC.

2.2. Violation of above prohibitions shall be grounds for immediate forfeiture of library privileges and permanent denial of usage of medical library facility.

3. Software’s and other applications downloaded via the Medical Library computers shall be the property of PCMC and shall not be taken out other Medical Library.

4. Librarians reserve the right to inspect any and all files stored in private areas of our network in order to assure compliance with policy.

5. No USB policy shall be strictly implemented to protect the computers in the medical library from any harmful viruses. Users may opt to save and/or send their files thru email or have them printed.

6. Use of library Wi-Fi for group meetings, case presentations and video conferencing shall be coursed through the Management Information Systems Division (MISD) by accomplishing the Request for System Assistance Form (RSAF) which can be downloaded from the Intranet.
