Welcome to this website! This is Hannah's project for Drew School's Senior Project. The goal of this website is to be a comprehensive resource for teenagers looking for healthcare resources in the Bay Area. The pages are going to allow for people to more easily search for and find the care they are looking for (especially as this hosting service doesn't have a search box as of May 9th - a problem still in existence at the end of the month). If you are not a member of the Drew Community, or just have questions about what senior project is, I have included some questions and answers below.
Why a senior project?
Senior Project provides the student with the opportunity to connect independent learning, life and work while facilitating student passage into a world beyond high school. Students must exhibit a learning extension over and above what they have previously learned and in this way the project will act as a capstone activity.
What are the dates for the senior projects?
For the 2016-2017 school year the Senior Project lasts from May 1 – May 19.
What are general guidelines for the project?
A. Projects should be within the Bay Area with an on-site supervisor.
B. Work is independent and individual
C. Internships are with organizations separate from the student’s family and must account for at least 50% of the time spent each week (~15 hours).
D. A minimum commitment of 35 hours per week for three weeks
E. If students wish to work outside of this framework, they must successfully petition the senior project committee to do so.
What kinds of projects have been successful in the past?
When planning their projects, students should seek out projects that speak to their interests – either continuing a developed pursuit or discovering a new passion.
But Hannah, what are YOU doing?
My final project is this website. I am doing three internships/volunteer opportunities - 1) at KitTea in Hayes Valley, 2) at CPMC in the radiology, pathology, and mom and baby nursing units, and 3) the Maker Faire with GalaxyGoo.
My blog - where I discuss how my project is going - can be found here: http://hannahdavis2017.blogspot.com/, or by clicking on the box on the right.
As per project requirements, I post daily updates on everything senior project related, from awesome stories about my day to failures and successes.
