Health Insurance Laws in Dubai

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has made it mandatory for companies and individuals to provide those that they sponsor at least a minimum level of insurance called the Essential Benefits Plan. Here are some useful facts about DHA's requirement.

The deadline for mandatory insurance had passed in 2017 and includes insurance for company employees, domestic help and family in Dubai
The renewal of employee visas require proof that health insurance has been provided or visas are not renewed
If a company does not provide their employees with health insurance they will be fined AED 500 per person per month.
Companies are only responsible for providing their employees with insurance and not their employees families
Health insurance is mandatory in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while it is not yet mandatory in the Northern Emirates
