Hypersonic Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory

Hypersonic Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory (HEAL) is a High Speed Flows Research Laboratory at Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India. To study High speed Flows, We have established a series of facilities named S1, S2 and S3 at HEAL. Existing facilities are used for studies like Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions (SWBLIs), Shock-Focusing, Shock-Shock Interactions, Scramjet, Re-entry Bodies, Active cooling Technique (Film Cooling) for spacecrafts, Plasma etc. High Speed Imaging, Schlieren, Shadowgraph Imaging, Emission Spectroscopy, High frequency Pressure and Temperature measurement are actively used for various studies.
