For zoom calls, the WOCKODER ® Vintage Record takes my top spot because its built-in Bluetooth receiver lets you stream your meeting audio directly to a high-quality speaker system without needing a separate headset. The runner-up is the iClever HS19S, which I recommend if you need a rugged, wired option specifically designed to protect young ears while they listen to educational content on school tablets.
• WOCKODER ® Vintage Record — best for turning your home office into a retro studio; pick this if you want to stream Zoom audio through powerful speakers or plug in headphones for private listening via the dedicated jack.
• iClever HS19S — best for children using iPads or Chromebooks; pick this if you need a durable, wired pair with safe volume limits that won't distract you from your own work.
• JBL Tune 720BT (Purple) — best for all-day wireless comfort and deep bass; pick this if you want a foldable design that fits easily in a backpack and lasts over three days on a single charge.
• JBL Tune 720BT (Blue) — best for travelers who need quick recharges; pick this if you rely on Voice Aware technology to hear yourself clearly during calls without removing your headphones.
This device is not a standard pair of headphones but rather a full-fidelity turntable system that doubles as a premium Bluetooth receiver. While it looks like a piece of mid-century furniture with its light brown wood-grain finish, it functions as a versatile audio hub for anyone who wants to elevate their call setup. It features a belt-driven anti-vibration system and a dynamic full-range stereo speaker that delivers rich sound, making it an excellent choice for those who dislike wearing earbuds during long meetings.
For the professional working from home, this unit solves the "headset fatigue" problem. You can connect your laptop wirelessly via Bluetooth to stream your Zoom audio directly to the turntable's internal speakers. If you need privacy, there is a dedicated headphone input that allows you to plug in your own wired headphones for crystal clear calls without disturbing anyone else in the room. The inclusion of RCA outputs means you can even bypass the internal speakers entirely and feed the audio into a larger external sound system for a truly immersive conference experience.

The trade-off here is that this is a large, stationary device rather than portable gear. It requires a power outlet and a flat surface to operate, so it is strictly a desk-bound solution. You cannot wear it on your head, nor can you take it on a commute. However, for someone who spends eight hours a day sitting at a desk, the ability to switch between playing vinyl records for focus and streaming high-quality audio for meetings makes it a unique centerpiece for a home office.
The iClever HS19S is a completely different beast: a sturdy, over-ear wired headset built specifically for younger users, though adults seeking a distraction-free listening environment might find value in it too. Its primary feature is SafeSound technology, which physically limits the maximum volume to 85 decibels. This ensures that whether a child is watching a video lesson or listening to music, their hearing remains protected from damage caused by sudden loud spikes. The construction uses durable ABS materials that are free from harmful BPA and PVC, giving it a robust feel that can withstand daily handling.
In a practical sense, this headset offers excellent isolation from ambient noise thanks to its soft, breathable earmuffs and over-ear design. The passive noise cancellation helps block out household distractions, allowing the wearer to focus entirely on the audio source. This wired connection guarantees zero latency, which is crucial for kids keeping up with interactive learning games or teachers monitoring online classes.
The main limitation is the lack of wireless freedom. The cord keeps the user tethered to the device, which can be annoying if they need to move around a room or walk to the kitchen. Additionally, the fixed volume limit, while safe, might feel restrictive for older teenagers or adults who prefer to crank the volume higher during action movies or intense gaming sessions. It is a specialized tool for safety and durability rather than a flexible lifestyle accessory for the modern mobile worker.
The JBL Tune 720BT represents the gold standard for wireless over-ear performance, delivering the brand's signature Pure Bass sound through modern Bluetooth 5.3 technology. This model is designed for the user who values longevity and convenience above all else. With an impressive battery life rated for up to 76 hours, you can go nearly three weeks on a single charge before needing to plug it in. Even if you do forget to charge it overnight, a mere five-minute burst of charging provides enough juice for three additional hours of playback, eliminating the anxiety of a dead battery during a critical moment.
What sets this pair apart for daily use is the balance between portability and comfort. The headphones feature a flat-folding design that allows them to collapse neatly into a compact shape, fitting effortlessly into a backpack or carry-on bag. Despite their lightweight build, they sit comfortably on the head for extended periods, making them ideal for long flights or marathon work sessions. The JBL Headphones App adds another layer of utility, letting you customize the equalizer settings to suit your personal taste or adjust voice prompts to guide you through features in your preferred language.
However, this model does have a specific trade-off regarding call clarity compared to dedicated business headsets. While it includes hands-free calling capabilities and Voice Aware technology to help you hear your own voice, the microphone quality is secondary to the massive emphasis placed on music fidelity. It is an exceptional music listener's choice, but if your primary goal is purely professional telephony where every word must be broadcast with military-grade clarity, you might find the call experience slightly less crisp than a dedicated conference headset.
This second iteration of the JBL Tune 720BT highlights the same core strengths but presents them in a distinct colorway, offering a fresh aesthetic for those who want to match their tech to their personal style. The Blue variant maintains the exact same technical prowess as its purple counterpart, including the robust 76-hour battery life and the rapid 2-hour full recharge cycle. The inclusion of touch controls allows you to manage media and calls with simple taps on the ear cup, providing a seamless interface that feels intuitive and modern.
A key feature worth noting for the frequent traveler is the integration with voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri. You can control your smart home devices or check your schedule without ever touching your phone, which is incredibly convenient when your hands are full or you are driving. The sound isolation provided by the closed-back design ensures that you remain immersed in your audio whether you are on a noisy subway or in a bustling coffee shop. The absence of a physical headphone jack in this specific configuration emphasizes the wireless nature of the device, pushing you to embrace the freedom of untethered listening.
The compromise here lies in the reliance on touch controls, which can sometimes be finicky if you are wearing gloves or if your hands are wet. Unlike the tactile buttons found on other models, the touch surface requires a bit of precision. Furthermore, while the battery life is outstanding, the lack of active noise cancellation means that external sounds will still bleed through more than you might expect in very loud environments. It is a fantastic choice for casual listening and moderate travel, but serious commuters in extremely noisy zones might need to look elsewhere for total silence.
We compared published specs and features across these four products to determine their suitability for different needs. Yes, the WOCKODER system streams audio via Bluetooth for calls, while the JBL models offer hands-free calling with Voice Aware technology to ensure you can hear yourself speak clearly during conferences.
Both JBL Tune 720BT models come with a Type-C USB cable for fast charging, allowing you to quickly power up your device using standard USB-C ports found on most modern laptops and phones.
The iClever HS19S is the superior choice for students due to its SafeSound volume limiting feature, which protects developing ears, and its durable, wired design that eliminates battery anxiety.
While the JBL Tune 720BT folds flat for easy storage, the blue version comes with a fabric carrying case included in the package, whereas the purple version focuses on the compact folding mechanism for portability.
