Outwork everyone else.
If you know the correct way, do it that way.
Outlast the competition by conditioning your body and mind.
In sports, speed is paramount. That is the root of the old saying, speed kills. At HDC Athletix, we emphasize maximizing speed by developing proper fundamental running techniques. Maximum speed is achieved through developing and mastering the following:
HDC ATHLETIX KEYS TO SPEED
5 ELEMENTS OF SPEED: These are the different areas that must be perfected to reach your top speed.
STARTS- the ability to explode from a stationary position and assume the correct sprinting posture.
ACCELERATION- the ability to reach maximum speed as quickly as possible.
RATE OF STRIDE- the number of strides taken over a given distance.
LENGTH OF STRIDE-the amount of distance covered by each stride.
ENDURANCE-the ability to maintain top speed. Essential for finishing a race.
3 KEYS OF SPRINTING: These are the three most important factors to reaching top speed.
POSTURE- correct posture for maximum speed is erect and upright. This allows you to apply the most push against the ground.
HIGH KNEES- in the recovery postion, the knees should be brought all the way up until they are level with the waist. The knee should form a 90 degree angle.
ARM SWING- the arms should swing fluidly moving at SHOULDERS. The elbows should be locked at 90 degrees. This has to become a natural movement since it allows you to RELAX while sprinting.
3 PHASES OF SPRINTING
· DRIVE PHASE-the ball of the foot pushes off the ground.
· RECOVERY PHASE-the knee joint closes to 90 degrees then strides toward the ground.
· SUPPORT PHASE-the foot strikes the ground and weight is supported.
