Hi there,

I had old cd play which was not working so I decided to open it up to see what parts I can scrap for further use. It has LCD display(Like in digital watch) which shows playing time, play, pause etc. I think I can use that display with arduino to show some info or make digital clock. Below are the images of LCD display attached to PCB.

"Hacking" it is a multi-faceted process consisting of identifying which wires correspond to power for a start - and note that you cannot connect anything to the LCD itself (that will damage it) - and determine what voltages were used to power the display board. Next you need to "sniff" the data sent to the board when the device was in its original form. If it was not working, you need to fix it to the extent that the display shows some data in order to sniff and match up that data.

I always try to use any part of a dead electronics in some way; it doesn't feel right throwing away fully functional components or parts. It was an old cd player and only laser was not working. Rest every part of cd player is working fine like power supply, processing unit, motors etc. I found info for almost all components of cd player. I will still try to find a way to use that display. I also have one fully functional china phone colour lcd display. I am also trying to find a way to use that display in some way in my project. I hope I will find a way. Thank you Kostli and Pual__B for you time

Well, then the only way you will be able to use the display (and it's controller) is to connect up a logic analyser to the data pins and record what goes on when the host (the CD-player) is writing to the display driver. From this you can deduct how it works, and can be reused.

Also connecting up a 9V battery between two pins on the LCD glass is surely not a good idea - you may have destroyed the display controller by doing this, and doing this for several minutes will destroy the glass, too.

Hi alivebj

Did you find a way to use that display yet?

I am planning to do it myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Just trying to read the FLASH memory used to drive this display mounted on the motherboard.

No. No one found a way to drive it' It's a custom display and the only way you would be able to use it, would be to connect up a logic analyzer and sniff the communication to document it and write your own code.

Hi, I am very new to PlayFab. I am trying to retrieve and set the DisplayName from a player in a title. I have read the documentation and it does not make sense with my little knowledge of PlayFab. I am using Unity c#. Keep in mind I don't understand the whole https post thing :) Thanks!

Hi! I login to the game with my PlayFab username. After I'm entering a room created by Photon. My purose; When I enter the room, I want to see me and other users PlayFab Username or display name. What should I do?

It's the OSD, sometimes the text disappear because you change the subtitle font. On Mac some font will not show, specifically ones that are not English. You will have to choose between displaying your subtitle in foreign languages or displaying the OSD text.

Does anyone know how to structure the line of code to turn off the display text once it is done? I see there is a Set Visibility and widget_visibility option but how to set it up is the question? Thank you.

At our church, we sometimes need to display video content on the second monitor which is our projector screen. We also chose VLC to display the content, and for similar reasons as stated we found it rather distracting on having to drag the 'player' window of VLC on to the second monitor. We also wanted to come up with a really simple solution so that our less computer-savvy operators could find it really easy to show video content.

If you wanted to use this, you would have to adapt the Vlc_Starter.bat to match the setup of your second monitor - this is the video-x=... and video-y=... option in the script. You might also need to change the vlcPath=... setting for your install location of VLC. You can also adapt the script to display DVD content (replace the %1 to something like dvdsimple://g:\@2 where 'g' is the drive and '2' is the DVD title number), or make the script into a Windows shortcut instead (I won't give details as my posting is already pretty long...!)

VLC will now remember its position and always start videos in fullscreen mode on the second monitor (until you change the position to the primary display or the secondary display becomes unavailable, that is.)

Screen select doesn't work as it should on Windows VLC. As a workaround I'd suggest using it normally and download Dual Monitor tool. Set hotkeys for moving window to other screen (will work with full screen as well. I can rotate windows with fx. ctrl+shift numpad +/- (You can set up most key combos here). Started with ctrl +/- but gave some trouble enlarging text in firefox was bound to same key and needed that on my small screen on laptop. I bound rotate screen (same program) to alt+ctrl numpad +/- which is rarely needed, but nice when it is. I seen other players that handle it correctly. I like VLC because it is multi-platform and open source as well as ad free, but these issues seem to plaguing it in even recent versions on Windows.

The problem is that the screen turns off after 10 minutes while I watch a movie. No matter which player I use (VLC or SM), it still happens. It used to log me out too, but I changed the default setting as follows

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the link: so I delete the VLC cache files, and then only one song cover were corrected(the first song I played actually).

But when I play all the other songs, they all display a wrong cover(they all display the same cover from the first played song above!)

EXPLANATION:

This issue is due to the fact that new versions of VLC Player "cache" covers in "%appdata%\roaming\vlc\art" inside of which VLC will create subfolder names based on "ArtistName\AlbumName\art.jpg". (if the Album tag field of Mp3 is empty, then VLC will create a subfolder named "_" under the ArtistName folder)

So VLC will use that cached cover for all mp3 that has the same Artist name and Album name, instead of using the cover embedded within each Mp3 themselves...that's why some of my mp3 displayed the same wrong cover with VLC!!!!!

So I guess the best way to solve this is to put something unique (such as song title, or filename, etc) inside the Album tag field, ESPECIALLY if you have several songs from a same Artist that you don't know in what different Albums names those songs respectively came from. That will prevent VLC Player to display a same wrong cover for all those songs!!!!

PS: alternatively I found another inexplicable(but working) solution: I open the mp3 file with "Mp3 Tag Tools v1.2.008" and just click on the "Write Tag" button...That's all, and it works fine because VLC will display correctly the Cover. BUT I look inside the mp3 header an I found a sort of "mistake" as the "mime" was changed to "image/peg" INSTEAD OF "image/jpeg". For that reason, I didn't use that solution, even if it's working fine! Maybe Mp3Tag team development could have a look closer to that solution, to fix this issue directly from within Mp3Tag??? I hope so!!!!!

Not only do i see this but when i connect my iPhone to my car via the USB it doesn't display all of the playlists i created and will not let me skip forward through the tracks using the car's controls.

Update: I reset my phone and went to a meeting. When I came out, the music player was on my lock screen. No bluetooth, no media was played. It just appeared. My next step is to delete the music app and reinstall it. But I think I'll lose all my playlists. ?

Although Flash Player can display high-quality video and images by itself, hardware-accelerated scaling uses the video or graphics card on your computer to display images and video more clearly and quickly than Flash Player can on its own.

For hardware-accelerated scaling to work, you need Microsoft DirectX 9 with VRAM 128MB for Windows and OpenGL for Apple Macintosh, Mac OS X v10.2 or higher. There might be compatibility issues with older hardware and drivers. (See Flash Player system requirements.) With older versions of Flash Player, you should not see dramatic changes as the player reverts from hardware-accelerated scaling back to software scaling.

If you have display problems with Flash Player, such as poor picture quality or slow display times, deselect Enable Hardware Acceleration in the Display panel. This should eliminate hardware or driver compatibility problems with Flash Player. Flash Player then uses software to scale and display the content.

When a player matches a pair, the game should reset itself so that it no longer keeps track of any labels that use the firstClicked and secondClicked reference variables. It should not reset the colors for the two labels that were matched. Those labels continue to be displayed.

The if statement checks whether the icon in the first label that the player chooses is the same as the icon in the second label. If the icons are the same, the program runs its three statements. The first two statements reset the firstClicked and secondClicked reference variables. They no longer keep track of any of the labels. The third statement is a return statement, which skips the rest of the statements in the method without running them.

The method uses another foreach loop in C# or For Each loop in Visual Basic to go through each label in the TableLayoutPanel. It checks each label's icon color to verify whether it matches the background. If the colors match, the icon remains invisible, and the player hasn't matched all of the remaining icons.

In that case, the program uses a return statement to skip the rest of the method. If the loop gets through all of the labels without executing the return statement, that means that all of the icons on the form were matched. The program shows a MessageBox to congratulate the player on winning, and then calls the Close() method to end the game. e24fc04721
