Welcome to the workshop on "High-resolution Myocontrol – Towards Optimal Intent Detection via High-density Spatial and Temporal Bio-signal Detection". This workshop aims to explore cutting-edge techniques in high-resolution bio-signal detection, focusing on high-density surface electromyography (HD-sEMG) and sonomyography. Our goal is to introduce these technologies, discuss their benefits and limitations, and examine their future potential in controlling robotic devices.
As advances in robotic assistive devices like prosthetic hands and exoskeletons continue, the need for precise user control becomes critical. HD-sEMG and sonomyography offer high spatial and temporal resolution, enabling better detection of motor unit action potentials and muscle movements. Recent developments in wearable devices have made these technologies more practical for real-world applications in myocontrol and rehabilitation.
The workshop features talks by leading experts: Dr. Castellini on the research gap, Dr. Liu on ultrasound-based control, Dr. Sikdar on miniaturized sensors, Dr. Farina and Dr. Del Vecchio on HD-sEMG applications, and Dr. Sharma on sensor fusion. Interactive demos will allow attendees to engage with the technology firsthand. Mr. Levay, a bilateral upper limb amputee, will provide insights from a user perspective.
We invite you to participate actively in the discussions and demonstrations, and look forward to a productive session on advancing myocontrol technologies.
