Applicants may select either Canberra, Melbourne or Perth as the passport collection centre.
Passport renewal applications will be assessed based on the following criteria:
Hold long-term visa in Australia with at least 6 months of remaining validity. (Permanent Resident, Student Visa, Employee/Professional/Business Visa)

A: It would take up to 2 months for the passport is ready for collection.

A: The new passports for those who applied via the online facility are current printed in Melbourne before being couriered to Canberra/Perth. Processing times include the shipment of the passports to Canberra/Perth.
Q: Keep getting errors when uploading the photo. Is there a system issue?
A: The Malaysian Immigration Department has very strict requirements to ensure consistency and quality of photos uploaded by applicants.
Q: Is it possible to renew the passport via the online platform if the old passport had been stolen/lost ?
A: It is not possible. You will not be allowed to collect the new passport if you cannot show the old passport on account of it being stolen or lost. Please contact the nearest consulate to request for a new passport. Attach the following documents:

Passport renewal for bridging visa holders is assessed individually.
Holders of bridging visa as a result of applying for Protection Visa (subclass 866) are not eligible for passport renewal.
After you applied for the new visa, you will be on bridging visa after your current visa expires.
The bridging visa will allow you to continue remaining in Australia legally.
Holders of bridging visa are not automatically eligible for passport renewal.
If your passport expires before the new visa is granted, the case officer at the Department of Home Affairs will send you a letter to request for a valid passport. You will have to wait for this letter to be sent to you before you can request for passport renewal.
Once you have the letter, you can forward it to the Immigration section at immigration@malaysia.org.au together with a copy of your expired passport, IC and visa grant notice.
The Immigration section will arrange an appointment with you so that you can be provided a temporary passport that fulfills the requirement stated in the letter.
After you are granted the new visa, you can then apply for the passport renewal.

An expired passport does not affect your residence status in Australia. To ensure you are lawful in Australia, you must have a valid Australian visa at all times.
The Malaysian Immigration Department does not impose any penalties for having an expired passport. If your Malaysian passport has expired and you have no urgent travel to Malaysia, then it is ok to remain in Australia and make plans to have the passport renewed.
If you need to travel back to Malaysia and your passport has expired, you cannot travel with an expired passport.

Malaysian driver's license cannot be renewed in Australia.
Options to renew it are as below, all of which require the renewal to be done in Malaysia.
Option 1:
Renew the driver's license via the online portals, either MyEG or JPJ's MySikap. The new driver's license can be sent to a Malaysian address which thereafter, you can arrange to have it couriered to Australia.
Option 2:
Appoint a representative to help renew the driver's license at any JPJ branches. The representative will need to present the following:

signed authorization letter for the representative to act on behalf

After obtaining the new driver's license, the representative can then arrange to courier it to Australia.
Replacement of the Malaysian Identification Card cannot be done in Australia.

Travelers from Australia can bring the prescribed medication into Malaysia as part of their luggage for one month’s supply/use by one person. The permissible quantity for one (1) month supply will be determined according to the product dosage label. Upon arrival at the international entry point, the possession of dangerous drug must be declared to the custom / pharmacy enforcement officer.
Travelers must be ready with a valid prescription for all their medications from their treating physician for all the medications (mandatory requirement for dangerous drugs and psychotropic substance) and transporting the medication in the originally dispensed bottle and label is required. Ensure that the medical prescription issued by the physician in the country of departure and should indicate the name and address of the patient and prescriber, the name of the medicines including the total amount and the dose prescribed. The prescription must be in English, or if not, accompanied by a translation.

Bringing medicines including vitamins and health supplements into Malaysia only for personal use shall not exceed such quantities as may be reasonably required for one (1) month’s use by one (1) person only regardless of the length of stay in Malaysia. The Malaysian Government has announced that borders will opened to all travellers to Malaysia starting from 1st April 2022. Arrivals from the date onwards will no longer be required to have the My Travel Pass approval to enter the country. However, everyone must still adhere to health measures still in place.
Pre-departure PCR test within 2 days prior to departure flight is mandatory for everyone except fully vaccinated travellers with recent COVID-19 infection who are required to obtain a professionally supervised Rapid Antigen Test.
Non-Malaysians must have travel insurance which covers COVID-19.
Mandatory quarantine remains in place for travellers who are partially/not vaccinated without medical exemption.

Children below the age of 18, regardless of vaccination status, are not required to undergo quarantine and only need to take a professionally supervised Rapid Antigen Test within 24 hours after arriving in Malaysia.

Effective 13 January 2022, fully vaccinated travellers arriving in Malaysia with a history of Covid-19 infection within 11 to 60 days before departure to Malaysia are EXEMPTED from mandatory quarantine.
Evidence to show the history of Covid-19 infection must be in the form of laboratory test results, either printed or digital.
SMS test result notification is not acceptable as evidence. So is self tested positive RAT result.
If you were not hospitalized, you will also need to obtain a negative professionally-taken Rapid Antigen Test result within 2 days prior to departure.
If you were hospitalized due to Covid-19, you are required to obtain a "Fit for travel" letter from the hospital.
Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travellers with a history of Covid-19 infection are still subject to mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Malaysia for 7 days.

At the moment, Malaysia has only established a VTL framework with Singapore which started from 29 November 2021 onwards.
The VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) allows fully vaccinated travellers from one country to enter into another country without quarantine, subject to COVID-19 testing and further requirements determined by the country of destination.
As there is no VTL arrangement yet for travel between Malaysia and Australia, travellers to Malaysia will have to undergo the mandatory quarantine.
Travellers on the VTL will be required to make an online submission at the MySafeTravel portal at https://mysafetravel.gov.my/.

Fully-vaccinated international tourists going to Langkawi island under the Langkawi International Tourism Bubble, which started on 15 November 2021, are required to stay at least five days (5) in Langkawi before they are allowed to visit other destinations in Malaysia. MTP approval is not required.
International tourists to Langkawi must have minimum insurance of USD50,000 which covers COVID-19, and engage tourism operators licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) with accommodation and return ticket bookings made in advance until Day 5 or Day 7 before they can continue their vacations as Free Independent Travellers (FITs) to the rest of Malaysia. The insurance is not necessary for Malaysian citizens.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by fully-vaccinated parents or guardians, and only a maximum of 20 people in a group tour is allowed with a tourist guide per group. Children aged 12 and below may travel with their vaccinated parents/guardian without having to prove their vaccination. Children under the age of two (2) do not need to undergo the COVID-19 screening test.
Wearing face masks are also compulsory in all public places as well as in public transportation.
A minimum stay of three days (3) is required and trips can only be made via air travel, either arriving through Kuala Lumpur or direct flight to Langkawi / via Penang (technical stop only).
Within 2 days prior to departing for Malaysia, tourists must obtain a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result. They also need to bring along a digital or printed copy of their results and have the mandatory MySejahtera app downloaded, registered and activated beforehand. Tourists arriving through Kuala Lumpur would be subjected to RT-PCR COVID-19 Screening / Rapid Molecular Testing at the airport (KLIA1 and klia2) and must be tested negative before being allowed to resume travel to Langkawi.
Effective 3 March 2022, daily testing while on the Langkawi island is no longer required.
Fully vaccinated tourists with booster may leave the Langkawi Island on Day 5 to other parts of Malaysia without further quarantine.

There are no exemptions for hotel quarantine, even for those who are fully vaccinated.

For double dose vaccines: recipients must have received two complete doses of which more than 14 days have passed since date of second dose.
For single dose vaccines: of which more than 28 days have passed since date of vaccine dose.

Beginning 18 November 2021, quarantine facility services are operated entirely by private entities (hotels). Individuals who wish to enter Malaysia must make a reservation and payment directly with the respective hotel before leaving for Malaysia. Booking verifications will be made by the authority at the counter, or before leaving the Immigration Department counter at PMA. The list of participating hotels can be found in the Appendix section of official guideline document in Supporting Info.
For individuals who are vaccinated including booster dose, they can inform the Malaysian government of their vaccination status.
Upon successful update, the individuals will have the Digital Certificate in their MySejahtera app that shows the vaccination details.

Upon arrival in Malaysia, quarantine is still mandatory. However, can apply for time-off from quarantine to visit the hospital / attend funeral. Typically the time-off will be about 3 hours.
To apply for time-off, need to contact the respective State Health Department / Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri (JKN) as per the image below this page, and cc to the Health Ministry / Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia at hso@moh.gov.my.
To visit critically ill family members, must also obtain visitation approval from the hospital.
After the approvals are granted, transport arrangement is subject to timing and availability of frontliners and transport. If there is no government vehicle available, please be prepared to hire private transport instead at own expense.

There will be 2 rounds of COVID-19 RT-PCR test.
1st test will be on arrival at the airport. Free for Malaysians arriving on non-VTL flights, RM250 for non-Malaysians.
2nd test will be on Day 5 of quarantine. The cost is to be borne by the traveler. It differs depending on the testing facility.

MySejahtera check-in is no longer required to enter premises in Malaysia from 1 May 2022. Entry to premises are permitted regardless of vaccination status. However, COVID-19 positive cases and those under quarantine orders are still not allowed to enter premises.
