The problem we are tackling is procrastination in young adults involving schooling and other daily activities. Young adults are very distracted nowadays by the alarming increase in social media use throughout the years. Students constantly are looking at their phones on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, Tik Tok, etc. With an increase in social media use, there has been a decrease in productivity students display with their work ethic and ability to focus on the task at hand. This then translates to the workplace where people can struggle to make it through a workday without burning out too halfway through. This also translates to social interaction that young adults experience where they are too afraid to have simple interactions and conversations without a screen in between the two parties.
This is a top priority issue to focus on as the future of our country and everywhere around the world are in the hands of this generation being raised only every knowing technology. Technology has made us become disconnected from each other to the point where social interaction has become an issue amongst our generation. We are too scared to confront things in person or do not have the energy to tackle a day head on without needing breaks every few minutes. With a majority of the student population owning smartphones, it is important that we bring up these issues now to make sure we do not end up with problems in the future.
The idea being proposed is an application with simple but effective strategy to not only mitigate the amount of time we spend on certain things, but help try to prioritize and organize out daily schedules to get into a better routine of things. There is no question that technology is a part of us but that does not mean we have to waste our time what we use it on. The idea we are suggesting is that the application help you schedule your day out based on what you have going on that day while mitigating the amount of time you spend on social media or other useless things. If you have things to be on top of that day, your phone will lock certain applications while you are in class, at work, or doing homework to reduce the temptation of looking constantly. You can set the schedule so when you are done with important things the applications can open back up. On top of this, the application will suggest activities to do based on a goals list so rather than just unlocking and allowing you to continue on social media, it will suggest or even keep your social media locked until you finish one of those goals. For example, if one of your goals is to work out instead of being on the phone, the application can connect to fit devices to track your fitness and keep your social media off to encourage you to achieve those goals.
An application will be the most useful route to go as most if not all teens and young adults are equipped with a smartphone.Smartphones are a tool and a privilege to have but are not necessary. That being said an application seemed like the best fit as it would really help people understand that they don’t need to be glued to their phones constantly for the wrong reasons. This application would allow your phone to still function normally like texting and phone calls but would stop you from accessing unnecessary things.
