Sensei Alex Diaz Dehaney

Sensei Alex is a highly skilled and dedicated martial artist with 30+ years of experience in both practicing and teaching Karate. As Chief Instructor and Director of Hoppers Crossing Karate School, he is committed to developing students’ discipline, technique, and character through expert training and mentorship.

Originally from Cuba, Sensei Alex brought his deep passion for Karate to Australia, where his journey of perseverance and dedication has shaped him into the esteemed instructor he is today. A three-time Australian Karate Champion and six-time Cuban Karate Champion, he has also competed in the World Series, demonstrating his skill on national and international stages.

With a strong background in Shitō-ryū, Shōtōkan, and Shūkōkai, Sensei Alex holds a Black Belt 3rd Dan and has trained under some of the most respected masters in the field. His expertise spans traditional techniques, self-defence, and competitive training, making him a well-rounded and sought-after instructor.

Beyond his achievements, Sensei Alex is passionate about teaching and inspiring students of all ages. He actively promotes the values of respect, perseverance, and personal growth, helping students excel both in and out of the dojo.

Under his guidance, countless students have achieved milestones from earning black belts to competing at national and international levels. Sensei Alex’s vision is to cultivate a community of confident, disciplined Karateka who carry the principles of martial arts into every aspect of their lives.
