About Us

The HCA Gems began as the Cynthiana Gems in 2012. Once the program expanded to accommodate more athletes from surrounding counties, the Cynthiana Gems was switched to the HCA Gems, which represents HarriCyn Athletics. The program was founded by Samantha Shirley (Furnish) as a 21-year old student at the University of Kentucky. In 2014, Jonathan Furnish became a co-owner of the program. Since that time, the HCA Gems have seen exponential growth.
