Summit

• Dress code for the Summit is casual.

• Dress code for the Reception is business casual.

• Checking into the Hotel will require presenting a credit card for incidentals. Please let an HBU staff person know if this may present a challenge to you checking in and we can assist you.

• Check-in time is 3:00pm, and check-out time is 12:00pm.

Advocacy Day

• Dress code for the Advocacy Day is COMFORTABLE SHOES and a Hep B United or other hepatitis b-related shirt if you have them. Otherwise go with "business casual comfortable."

• Seriously, there will be a lot of walking through the buildings, wear comfortable shoes!

• DC in July is hot and humid and is prone to late afternoon thunderstorms. Expect highs in the low-90s and humidity at 60%+.

  • Stay hydrated!!! And bring a small umbrella if you have one.

• Entering House and Senate offices requires an airport-like screening via metal detector. You will not need to remove your shoes or dump your water bottles/food but otherwise, if you can’t usually take it on a plane, leave it at the hotel or in your luggage.

• Those leaving straight from the Advocacy Day to travel home will be able to have their luggage shuttled from the Darcy to near to Hill/Union Station to make it easier to catch planes/trains/Ubers/Metros. You will just need to make sure it’s packed and downstairs with you during the Advocacy Day training that morning.

Getting to the Hotel

• GPS Address: 1515 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20005

• HBU does not reimburse for ground transportation.

• The Darcy Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the Dupont Circle and Farragut North Metro stops (Red Line) and McPherson Square Metro stop (Blue, Orange, Silver).

• Metro requires a pass that can be able to be purchased at any station from a kiosk. A Station Manager should be available if you need help.

• From Union Station

  • via Metro: Take the RED LINE toward SHADY GROVE to DUPONT CIRCLE (~:10 ride)

  • via Uber/Lyft: ~:15 ride that should cost ~$12 during off-peak times

• From DCA 

  • via Metro: Take the BLUE LINE toward LARGO and get off at McPHERSON SQUARE (~:20 ride)

  • via Uber/Lyft: ~:20 ride that should cost ~$20 during off-peak times

    • (look for ride-share pick-up location signs inside the terminal)

• From IAD

  • via Metro (recommended): Take the SILVER LINE toward LARGO and get off at McPHERSON SQUARE (~:50 ride)

  • via Uber/Lyft: ~:45 ride that should cost ~$50 during off-peak times
