About Us
Homeschooling by Grace is a Christian educational cooperative serving families with children from nursery through high school. We are committed to building a supportive, Christ-centered community that encourages one another in both faith and homeschooling. We typically serve around 30 families and 70-80 students, ages 0-18.
We meet every other Monday afternoon, gathering 8-9 times per semester. Each co-op day begins with Chapel, a time of worship through music and a short, interactive Bible lesson. The fall semester begins the Monday before Labor Day, and the spring semester begins the Monday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We follow Frederick County Public Schools (MD) for weather-related closures and do not schedule makeup days.
We offer two class periods (Block A and Block B) for each age group, from preschool through high school, as well as a nursery for ages 0-2. These enrichment classes are taught by our members and are designed to complement, not replace, the core academic instruction that takes place at home. We do not provide grades, transcripts, record-keeping, or umbrella oversight.
HBG is not a drop-off program. A parent or guardian must remain on-site and assist during at least one class period. Each family must have at least one school-age child (age 5 or older by September 1 of the academic year).
Membership requires agreement with our Statement of Faith, available under the About Us tab. Members may be eligible to teach after completing one semester.
In addition to class days, members enjoy community events throughout the year, including field trips, moms’ nights out, and family picnics. We maintain a member handbook outlining our policies and procedures and use private Google and Facebook groups to communicate co-op news and events.
We are grateful for your interest and pray God blesses your homeschool journey, wherever it may lead.
