About Us
Homeschooling by Grace is a Christian educational cooperative serving families with children from nursery through high school. We are committed to building a supportive, Christ-centered community that encourages one another in both faith and homeschooling. We average 30 families and 70-80 students, aged 0-18.
Our class days begin with Chapel, a time of worship through music and a short, interactive Bible lesson led by our Chapel Director. We meet every other Monday afternoon, gathering 8–9 times per semester.
The fall semester begins the Monday before Labor Day and includes 8 class days. The spring semester begins the Monday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day and includes 9 class days. We follow Frederick County Public Schools (MD) for weather-related closures and do not schedule makeup days.
You can find a sample co-op day schedule below.
We offer two class periods (Block A and Block B) for each age group, from preschoolers through high schoolers, as well as a nursery for 0-2. These enrichment classes are taught by our members and are designed to complement—not replace—the core academic instruction that takes place at home. We do not provide grades, transcripts, record-keeping, or umbrella oversight.
Each participating family must have at least one school-age child (age 5 or older by September 1 of the academic year). HBG is not a drop-off program. A parent must remain on-site for the duration of the day and assist in at least one class period.
Agreement with our Statement of Faith is required for membership, and is linked in the About Us dropdown tab above. Members may be eligible to teach a class after completing one semester.
In addition to class days, our members enjoy a variety of community events throughout the year, including field trips, moms' nights out, family picnics, and more. Our co-op board of directors meets regularly, we have a member handbook with our policies and procedures, and we use private Google and Facebook groups to communicate about all co-op news and events.
We are grateful for your interest and pray God blesses your homeschool journey, wherever it may lead.
