About The Society

The Hay River Film Society is a non-profit created by a group of film fanatics for the purpose of helping to bring a diverse selection of award-winning, Canadian, foreign, independent or otherwise non-commercial films to the town of Hay River, NWT.

HRFS members get access to all of our monthly screenings without having to pay our standard $8 admission fee for non-members.

Members also enjoy these privileges:

• The option to be part of our film selection jury to help decide which films we bring in.

• Discounted rates to HRFS special events and workshops.

*While we strive to make our screenings as inclusive as possible, please note some films shown will only be suitable for a mature (18+) audience. In general, we recommend members be at least 14 years of age, but parental discretion is recommended. Anyone joining under the age of 18 will be asked to provide parental consent.

All revenue from the memberships, admission fees and sponsorships goes towards the purchasing of films, licensing fees for legal public presentation, rental of our fabulous local Cineplex and general administrative costs of running the society.
