Hayfield Bands Ensemble Auditions 2024
April 8, 9, 11, and 12 - All times listed in the Sign Up Genius
All students interested in taking the Symphonic Band (Advanced Band - 923415) or Wind Ensemble (Advanced Band - 923416) courses at Hayfield will be asked to complete an in-person audition. These auditions are optional for all students but required for any student who wants to participate in Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble. Students will sign up for a time slot via SignUpGenius (link below).
Percussion Audition Information is still to be determined, but all auditions will take place in-class for Hayfield MS and HS students.
Should I complete an audition?
Students currently in a Middle School Advanced Band course or High School Band course that want more of a challenge should strongly consider auditioning. If you just want to be in band, great! There is no audition required for the Concert Band course.
Which ensemble should I audition for?
Look at the audition materials (links below) and see what you are most comfortable preparing. Students auditioning for Wind Ensemble should have a firm grasp of performing full-range scales in all 12 major keys, and full-range chromatic scales, as well as the ability and technique to play the literature used for excerpts. Symphonic Band students will continue to develop these skills and full-range scales are not expected from all students auditioning.
Am I only eligible for the ensemble I audition for?
No - by completing an audition (either Symphonic Band or Wind Ensemble), you are eligible for either group based on the discretion of Mr. Specketer.
