Hayat Ullah is working as a “Regional Agriculture Expert” at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) where he is managing various projects and research activities of the postgraduate students.
Prior to his present role, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Food, Agriculture and Bioresources, School of Environment, Resources and Development, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand From Feb 2020 to May 2021. Under that role, his main focus of research was Climate Smart Agriculture and worked under a project entitled “Research Support for the Development of Specialized Expert System for Agrometeorological Early Warning for Climate Resilient Agriculture in Pakistan”. Before this he successfully completed another project entitled “Eco-friendly Water Management for Sustainable Wetland Agriculture in the Greater Mekong Region” funded by the FAO.
Hayat Ullah completed his Ph.D. at AIT as HEC overseas scholar and his undergraduate studies at the University of Peshawar. He was awarded with the most outstanding scholar award in MSc. and International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) Award during his Ph.D. in recognition of his outstanding performance. His research interests lie in the area of Crop and Environmental Interaction, ranging from Water Management to Nutrient Management. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines of crop botany, particularly horticulture and weed sciences. Hayat has published 33 research publications and book chapters in renowned international journals/publishers. Hayat attended 3 international conferences during his Ph.D. and 4 country consultation (Thailand, Viet Nam, Lao PDR and Cambodia) involving government ministries as a part of his Postdoctoral work. Delivering seminars on Scholarly Writing and Scientific Publication at AIT is also an important aspect of Hayat’s career.
Prior to becoming a proud and obsessed dad, Hayat enjoyed playing (poorly) and watching cricket, (road) bicycling, and enjoying good food. Now he usually manages to read one book a month.
Hayat belongs to Lower Dir District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan.
