Hello! My name is Alfred Marcus Sawyer, and I am the new Choir and General Music Teacher at Hawthorn Middle South! As a first-generation college graduate, I earned my degree in Music Education from Elmhurst University. I believe that music is an essential part of education. It provides students the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and think creatively. It also teaches important life skills, such as focus, teamwork, and perseverance. My goal is to provide a classroom where students feel supported and can enjoy the process of learning and making music together. I'm looking forward to an amazing school year!
