Research
2015 Analgesia and Improved Performance in a set of Patients Treated by Cooled Radiofrequency for Pain and Dysfunction
Studied the ablation of periosteal nerves coursing through the knees by cooled radiofrequency (CRF) as an option for reducing pain and promoting overall improvement in knee function for as long as 9-months, as reflected by favorable changes in Oxford Knee Scores after CRF.
2015 Analgesia and Improved Performance in a Patient Treated by Cooled Radiofrequency for Pain and Dysfunction Post Bilateral Total Knee Replacement.
Published case report: Clinical experience of a patient that originally presented to an orthopedic surgeon with OA of both knees that demonstrated an alternative, relatively noninvasive, pain management strategy; cooled radiofrequency (CRF) ablation of sensory nerves.
2008 UT Medical Branch Summer Research Program
Performed study on the hip joint of human specimens analyzing MIS approaches for muscle strain injuries. The specimens were measured and simulated with the femur and leg positions adjusted to relevant positions to predict muscle stretch and strain with respect to neutral resting muscle length.
Award Winner: Best Overall Clinical Sciences Poster across all disciplines.
