HNLN is a community-based organisation set up for landholders and the community to access advice, support and on-ground resources, towards improved land management. It is most importantly a network of groups and initiatives that are connected.
HNLN supports groups throughout the region, to grow, share knowledge, collaborate on joint initiatives, plan and deliver projects, engage others, apply for grants and much more. We aim to connect the community and empower action through Landcaring including conservation on properties and reserves, school projects, small-scale and sustainable agriculture, weed management, caring for waterways, citizen science and more.
We connect individuals and our members to a local group that matches their interests and/or we help them start their own group. HNLN also forms and manages projects and funding partnerships on a regional and local scale for the benefit of our member groups.

HNLN is hosted by Western Sydney Weeds Authority. WSWA (formally Hawkesbury River County Council) has been serving the community since 1948. They are a special purpose Council, with their goal being to administer the Biosecurity Act 2015 throughout our Council areas of Blacktown, Hawkesbury, Penrith and the Hills Shire. This involves our organisation taking a nil-tenure, landscape approach to weed management across the entire region. We focus on early detection of new incursions and containment of high-risk plant species that impact on biodiversity, agriculture, and property. HNLN's focus is within these four council areas.
