I searched this forum for green screen keying plugins that is good at preserving hair details for Final Cut Pro in 2023, however, most of the results were from 10 years ago. So I wanted to create a list of known Green Screen plugins for Final Cut Pro in 2023. My problem with Final Cut Pro's built-in keyer is that is too harsh and aggressive on details like hair, even if you tweak every single setting manually and shoot in an uncompressed 4K-codec with good even lightning on the green screen. "Ultra Key" in Premiere Pro is so much better at preserving hair details in comparison with very little effort.
You're judging Keyers on their "at first drop" condition. Keying is something of an art form. A good key takes work and if you're willing to spend the time, you can get a very good key out of just about any keyer... even mine:

My keyer (scKeyer) is ultra basic. The only parameter is a checkbox to turn it on. You start with creating an Effects Mask > Color Mask (based on any color), then you decide what you might need as you go along. If you need spill suppression, it's added separately. If you need Matte refinements, it's added separately. Plus there's a whole "toybox" of things to do with the alpha channels.

I feel that this is the type of training that would convert other editors to FCPX if they knew the ins and outs of the keyer. The installation adds four plug-ins: HK5 (green), HK5 (blue), Comp Tools 5, and Slice 5. The first two are compositing effects specifically optimized for a green or blue-screen background. Comp Tools supplies all of the Hawaiki Keyer edge tools if you are using a different keyer. It will work as long as the keyer generates an alpha signal. Slice is an analysis tool. Green and blue-screen keying covers 99% of this type of compositing, but you can still use either keying effect if some non-standard background color was used.
