VARIETY OF HUNGARIAN - HAWAII PROGRAMS & SESSIONS BETWEEN NOVEMBER 23 - 27th, THANKSGIVING IN OAHU, HAWAII
We are running an overnight THANKSGIVING camp in Hawaii, focusing on Hungarian and Hawaiian heritage. We are located right on the beach at Oahu's beautiful North Shore, just 60-minutes from Honolulu and the world-famous Waikiki Beach.
Our camp runs for 5 days and 4 nights - overnight camping in cabins for kids, as well as daily passes for families who just want to participate in our amazing cultural heritage program.
Children over the age of 7 can participate in the camp alone, with parental consent. Children under the age of 7 can attend the camp with their parents and join the PARENT CAMP.
Come join us and meet the Hawaiian Hungarians, and learn about Hawaii and Hungary. You'll enjoy our white sandy beach, charismatic coaches, delicious food, and many other amazing camp activities you won't find anywhere else - many of which are unique to Hawaii and Hungary.
Our camp is sponsored by the Külföldi Magyar Cserkészszövetség . We are welcoming amazing Hungarian scouts from California to help us with the program.

Join us for a fun, activity-filled camp to reconnect with your roots and learn about a new culture. In our camp, all ages will find great activities for themselves. Choose from Hungarian folk dance, games, archery, wood carving, or surfing . Learn about your Hungarian heritage through the rich Hungarian folk tales. You will be taken into the Hawaiian mythical world where you will learn about the 'menehunes' & midnight marchers' , dance hula, and make hawaiian arts. Kids over the age of 7 can attend alone, given parental consent.
Children under 7 can play, dance, surf, and get to know other Hungarian and American families during the daily activities and by the campfire. Have fun playing team games and enjoying all the amazing activities. Kids under the age of 7 can attend the camp with their families. Children can participate in the daily activities, but at night between 6pm and 8am, need to stay with their parents.
Join us every morning for breakfast and enjoy Hawaii's beautiful's sights. Meet other Hungarian families from the islands and mainland USA. Take tours together and share your culture. Parents are welcome to join camp dinner for the first and last night, and enjoy Thanksgiving feast with us on the 24th of 2022.
PROGRAM
During the five days, a wonderful, fairy-tale "journey" awaits the children, as they familiarize themselves with well-known and lesser-known Hungarian folk tales. They can walk in the shoes of fairy-tale characters, develop or exercise their creativity, and make new friends - all in a pleasant, natural environment. Each day of the camp focuses on a new folk tale and a Hawaiian mythology.
A taste of the programs:
Interactive programs with Hungarian folk tales, folk dance, puppet shows, archery, wood carving, hiking
Participate in mystery of the Hawaiian traditional life, learn hula dance, get to know the mystery of the Hawaiian nights, and the tradition of surfing and kayaking
Daily Hungarian folk dance and music classes, hula dance practices, local and Hungarian arts & crafts
Learning and immersing in 2-3 new Hungarian and Hawaiian folk tales every day.
Children will be assigned into small teams based on age. Each team will have a team lead who will be leading the kids every day. There will be a separate girls and boys' cabins and the team lead or an adult will be assigned to be responsible for the kids overnight.

Wednesday, November 23rd
4:00pm - 5:00pm - Arriving to camp, occupying cabins and parents setting up tents.
3:00pm - 5:00pm Children teams will be formed and activities will start. Team leads will be assigned.
6:00pm - Opening the CAMP and Dinner (parents are welcome).
7.00pm - Hungarian Traditional Campfire with singing.

LOCATION
YMCA Camp Erdman is a summer camp, family/group/school destination located on the beautiful North Shore of O'ahu, Hawai'i since 1926. What to bring?
Basic camping gear: flashlight, warmer clothes, blanket or sleeping back, backpack, hiking or sports shoes, your own shampoo and soap, toiletries, mosquito repellent.

Beach wear, sunscreens, hat, and 2 towels (1 beach and 1 bathroom).
