CrossedPaths serves as a secure, anonymous location sharing platform for organizations. An organization, such as a restaurant, can have its members download CrossedPaths to join their organization's group on the app. With the user's discretion, the app will track the digital signature of the user's location while the user is in the organization's location boundaries. Depending on the organization's purpose using this app, specific members within the group can voluntarily share their location history digital signatures with the group's administrators to be added into a group location history digital signature database. Other members of the group can then check if their paths overlapped with the database. CrossedPaths is unique in that it prioritizes and protects your data using encryption with one-way hashing, keeping data local on your phone, and allowing users to choose when to collect data.
CrossedPaths's UI is very straightforward.
If you are using this app as part of a group, or organization, please select your group in the menu under "CrossedPaths." Once you select your group, the app will be customized towards that group. Settings such as the location tracking boundaries and where your data is sent are automatically updated to be that of your specfied group.
To start collecting your location data, press "Updates Location", and to stop, press "Stop Updates."
To compare locally stored digital signatures of your location history with your group's database, press "Check Database" and the result will pop up after a short delay to download files (file size ~ 10 MB).
All your data is automatically deleted after one week but you can choose to wipe your data anytime by pressing "Clear History".

To share your location history digital signature with your group organizers as sepcified, press "Send Data." More information will be provided at that step regarding how your data will be handled at that point. Please note that if you are not part of a specific group, your data cannot be sent out.
CrossedPaths is unique and champions data privacy through these methods:
All user data is kept local to the phone, and no one, not even other apps on the phone, can access it.
Users control when to collect location data. All data is automatically deleted after a week, or users can manually delete data anytime.
Only digital signatures of time stamped location is stored on the phone. Digital signatures cannot be traced back to a location and time.
The app's decentralized model ensures that no one will ever know your location history overlap results with the group's database.
