All kinds of window trims, plus a fence, a balcony railing, and a door (maybe a screendoor with that fancy frame): all sized to fit the window cut-outs in the Small Haunted House Frame Set or Small Haunted House Shadowbox (and they also fit the windows in the mini house included in the Mini Haunted House Kit).

You can cause window jumpers by making them TOTALLY freaked out, when their eyes are shut, and their mouth is taking up most of the face. In this state they will run around randomly, but you can herd them to windows by possessing objects and making the 'Oooooh' sounds. Make sure they are NOT NEAR the door, because that will cause them to leave through the door. Using the methods above, herd them to a flapping window and there is a random (but convenient) chance that they will jump out of the window. Remember they face away from you if you face them, so do that near a window. In the original stage (the mansion) once you scare everyone away, a cutscene will take place where a man is running out of the house and you are staring out the window smiling. After that, you will see a view of in front of the ghost and see the window jumpers' ghosts come back. They will have the exact same hairstyle and things that the original jumpers had. So they couldn't take it anymore and they COMMITED SUICIDE. That's dark for a kids' game. But there you have it, how to get window jumpers in Haunt The House!

These wooden houses are all in terrible shape, and the heating bill for a house like that is huge. Most of them are owned by Haitians who rent out the rooms to relatives. Almost all of them are boarding houses in some form or another.

Download and print out our haunted house window transparency template. You can print on regular paper but we suggest a thicker cardstock, which will offer stability when you cut out the negative space.

Using regular school glue, line the back of the template with colorful Waldorf Window Star Paper, also known as kite paper. We like to add layers upon layers of kite paper to add dimension to the insides of the windows and house.

This week I am going to start with my Haunted House Hinged Window Card!

This card is an A7 size (5x7) and has 13 window/door pieces that are hinged to hide the contents! The file comes with the card base, the house pieces, the BOO letters, and the silhouettes shown in the windows. The file is compatible with both the 12x12 and 8x12 mats.

Here is the tutorial:1. Cut out all the pieces to the file. Ink around the edges of the house pieces if desired.2. Place adhesive on the back of the hinged window piece making sure not to place adhesive on the cut out pieces.3. Adhere the color mat to the center of the hinged window piece as shown.4. This image shows what the piece looks like now from the front.5. Flip the piece back over and place foam adhesive on the back.6. Adhere it to the main house piece, lining up the roof lines.7. Adhere the porch covering on the front as shown.8. Adhere the other two small roof strips in the coordinating spots.9. Place the triangle cuts over the three top windows, placing the larger one in the middle.10. Adhere the pieces inside the windows, placing the "BOO" in the center of the top windows.11. Tie a bow on your card base as shown.12. Place foam adhesives on the back of your finished house.13. Then adhere the house on to the card base.14. Tie a twine bow around the ribbon bow. Your finished card will look similar to this.15. Close the windows and your card is ready to go!

"Haunted Mansion" comes from director Justin Simien ("Dear White People," "Bad Hair") and writer Katie Dippold ("Ghostbusters: Answer the Call"), both of whom have a clear affinity for horror-comedy. Indeed, the movie's trailer serves up equal-sized portions of laughs and scares, all set to the eerie tune of Roy Orbison's 1975 song "House Without Windows." Bear in mind, Orbinson's ditty on its own is more melancholy than spooky, with lyrics alluding to heartbreak like, "I'm gonna move into/A house without windows/So I won't see you walking by/Walking by with your new love." Of course, as David Lynch infamously showed the world with "Blue Velvet," The Caruso of Rock's dreamy ballads can be decidedly creepy in the right context.

The Haunted Mansion attraction begins as you walk into a chamber with "no windows, and no doors," issuing you a "chilling challenge: to find a way out!" before you hop into the Doom Buggies that carry you the rest of the way. When the "Haunted Mansion" trailer teases a scene from the film homaging this particular aspect of the ride, Orbison's lyrics make for a surprisingly perfect accompaniment, on top of striking the same spoopy tone as the rest of the footage.

What's a haunted manor without a little doomed romance in its backstory? When Guillermo del Toro's planned "Haunted Mansion" movie fell through, he seemingly went and channeled his vision for the film into the Bronte-esque Gothic haunted house romance, "Crimson Peak." Justin Simien's take, on the other hand, follows a ragtag group of eccentric heroes as they assist a doctor (Rosario Dawson) and her nine-year-old son (Chase W. Dillon) with their new house's spectral infestation. Could there still be room for a tragic love story within this whimsical family adventure?

The best things about this DIY are that literally anyone can do it, and precision is not at all required. With just a good piece of cardboard and a few other easily accessible materials, you can haunt your house with some Halloween window monsters!

This is awesome. I saw something like this driving through town last night. The owners had placed a spotlight on the "monster" which was on the window on the top floor of their home. I was startled, but then a big grin came across my face.

My house is hidden by trees (Privacy! Yes!) but I've considered putting up two "poles" which some realistic human heads on them. New take on the old "keep out! No tresspassing!" sign? Hey! It worked for the ancient Celts! :)

My fave haunted house novel of the year is Dweller on the Threshold by Skyla Dawn Cameron. Set during the early days of lockdown, the pandemic forces the narrator to take refuge in the house she inherits from her estranged father. Spookiness ensues.

The solution arrived when I realized that the paper blinds on all of the windows provided me the chance to turn the entire house into one oversized luminary by creating very large paper silhouettes on all of the windows.

And, as for the pleasantly unexpected result, not only was the project great fun to create, but Sterling Publishing also took an interest in it and has just published Spooky Halloween Silhouettes (see the CRAFT review), my book based on this original project. The book consists of twenty eight black-paper punch-out silhouettes that can be affixed to windows or photocopied and enlarged, thus allowing others to put together a spooky house-sized luminary of their own.

This is just a sampling of the more than 38 windows and five doors that I cut sinister shapes for. The final project made for an eye-catching sight in an otherwise dark and sleepy little hamlet. With a few inexpensive supplies and a dark imagination, you can turn your own house into the creepiest manse in town.

I have always been fascinated by silhouettes in all their forms. Our eyes see details that are not there in the black and white image. The Halloween House looks great!

My condo does not have many big windows, but some of these will be up in slightly smaller than life-size. Thank you for your imaginative work. e24fc04721
