Finalized the concept for the mechanical actuator to be used for perching of the drone.
Improvised the past design to better accommodate the motor-pulley system with less interference on the bottom end and clear space for about 270 degree flap rotation .
Designed different prototypes for the drone chassis and mounting components for the motor and the cable using Solidworks.
Integrated all the components and presented the drone assembly
Performed trade analysis on the different types of materials to be used for the drone plate as well as the flaps such that they don't crack under the impact of motor torque load.
Conducted manual component level testing for the drone flaps to validate the perching mechanism
Learned using the Prusa 3d printer to print the blocks for the flaps of the drone.
Learned operating the laser printer and implemented the tolerances of the final product in the design
Got hands on experience setting up the torsion test for the flaps of the drone.
