Business Meeting Minutes

Sunday, July 19, 2026

• Brother Roach opened the meeting with a prayer.

• Brother David moved to accept the minutes as written.  Brother Tyler seconded and the motion carried.

• Brother Mark Howell moved to accept the financial report as written.  Brother David seconded and the motion carried.

• Brother Mark Howell said we are waiting on the paperwork to transfer the van.  We need a letter from the church saying we are donating it along with some other paperwork.  The letter must be signed by Brother Roach and a deacon.  

• Sister Cheryl said the piano humidifier has been installed.  We are waiting on the cover because it is custom done.

• The Mount Hope Association meeting is on September 12th at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church starting at 10:00 am.  Last year we sent $150 and got 3 minute books.   Brother Tyler moved to give $200 and get 3 books.  Brother Mark Howell seconded and the motion carried. Brother David moved to send Brother Roach to act as a messenger.  Brother Marlon seconded and the motion carried.

• Jennifer Shipley is getting married April 26th.  Brother Marlon moved to let her use the church for the wedding.  Brother Mark Howell seconded and the motion carried.

• Brother Mark Howell said the Back to School Nerf War would be August 8th from 10:00 to 12:00 at the Summit Gym on Darby Lane.  Pizza will be purchased from the Youth Fund.

• Brother David moved to adjourn.  Brother Marlon seconded and the motion carried.

Sunday, June 28, 2026

• Meeting was opened by Brother Roach.

• Brother Tyler moved to accept the minutes and treasurer’s report as written.  Brother Mark Howell seconded.  Motion carried.

• Tabled item from last meeting:  The finance committee wants to divide the budget into 3 main funds:  General, Missions, and Discretionary.  The general fund will receive 70% of the budget, the Missions 20%, and the Discretionary 10%.  We will vote on how to spend from the discretionary fund.  We may want to fine tune the percentages later.  The youth fund will be kept separate since it is a separate donation.  Brother David moved to divide the budget as discussed.  Brother Mark Howell seconded.  Motion carried.  

• Brother Mark Howell talked to the Macedonian Missions about the van again.  The missions that were being considered do not need a van any more.  Macedonian Missions said we could just donate the van to them and they would fix anything that was wrong and find a good place for it.  Brother Tyler moved to go ahead and donate it to the Macedonian Missions.  Brother Chuck seconded.  Motion carried.

• Sister Cheryl asked the church to consider getting a dehumidifier and cover for the piano.  It would be about $1500 for a cover.  With the dehumidifier it would be around $3000.  Brother David said there was a problem with the humidity affecting the pews and we may need to consider a dehumidifier for the whole sanctuary.  We might be able to drain it into the Baptismial.  Brother Chuck asked if you did a whole room one would you still need one just for the piano.  It was asked how much trouble it would be to cover and uncover the piano every time it was used.  Sister Cheryl said she would do that in order to protect the piano.  Brother David moved to look into prices of getting a humidifier.  He will look at whole building humidifiers and Sister Cheryl will look at one for just the piano.  Brother Chuck seconded.  Motion carried.

• Brother Roach gave a report of the ABA meeting.  The price of the Sunday School literature will be going up.  There were 154 missionaries recommended for salaries however only salaries for 152 passed.  Victory Missionary Baptist Church paid for Brother Roach to be at the meeting.  Two missionaries were honored for serving 55 years each.  

• Brother David moved to adjourn.  Brother Tyler seconded. Motion carried.

Wednesday July 8, 2026 Addendum 

• Sister Cheryl got an estimate from Steven’s Piano Services in Minifee for a humidifier and cover for the piano.  It was for $2500.  The piano will need to be measured and it takes about 3 weeks to get the customized order in.  It will take about 3 hours to be installed.  Someone asked if it would need a drain and Sister Cheryl said she would check.  Brother David moved to purchase the dehumidifier and cover.  Brother Mark Howell seconded.  Motion carried.
