Founded in 1976, the University of the Azores has established itself over the decades as a reference institution within the archipelago, building scientific and cultural ties. UAc is located in Ponta Delgada's city center, within a botanical garden and its own car park. It is 5 km from João Paulo II International Airport and 5-10 minutes' walk from the seafront downtown. Public and private transport make it easy to reach any area of the city and the paradisiacal island of São Miguel.
