A Timeline of the Village of Red Hook's WWTP and Site History

Click the link above to learn more about the history of concerns with this site and WWTP operations, including concerns with a malfunctioning wastewater treatment plant polluting an old, partially-remediated Brownfield site.

Our Local Goals

  1. Restore existing plants to fully operational status and in compliance with all laws & regulations.

  2. Run the existing plants through Dutchess County Water & Wastewater Authority (DCWWA) with at least 2 certified sewer operators who have at least 5 years experience managing the same system models; require at least 1 certified operator to be on-site daily to perform testing and system checks.

  3. Remediate the environmental damage to the local site.

  4. Halt any expansion plans for the current site; develop alternative site(s), and possibly decentralized systems, for future wastewater needs and new developments (to be clear- we support new, affordable housing!).
