The Nutrition Education & Communication Support Centre (NECSC) was a university-based initiative founded within the Institute of Food Science & Technology at KFUEIT, Rahim Yar Khan. Conceived as a hands-on public health platform, it was designed to translate advanced academic knowledge in food science and nutrition into accessible education and direct support for the student body and wider community. The centre executed a structured calendar of outreach activities to address gaps in nutritional literacy and promote sustainable healthy practices.
Objectives:
To bridge the critical gap between theoretical nutritional science and practical, everyday dietary understanding.
To combat misinformation and increase foundational nutritional literacy within the university and local community.
To provide a reliable, accessible source for evidence-based dietary guidance and personalized support.
To establish a sustainable, student-driven model for ongoing public health engagement and education.
Mode of Implementation (The How):
The project employed a multi-channel strategy for implementation:
Interactive Outreach Camps: On-campus stations offering BMI screenings, dietary analysis, and one-on-one consultations.
Public Advocacy Campaigns: Organized awareness walks and digital campaigns to spark dialogue on key nutritional themes.
Personalized Support Services: An instituted on-call counseling system for scheduled, confidential peer support.
Educational Content Dissemination: Creation and distribution of clear, scientific posters, leaflets, and social media content, supplemented by interactive workshops.
Results & Impact:
Institutionalized a Recurring Program: Successfully established the NECSC as a recognized, ongoing entity within the university's academic and outreach framework.
Achieved Wide Direct Engagement: Reached and interacted with over 5000 students, faculty, and community members through combined events and services.
Delivered Personalized Interventions: Conducted over 200 personalized dietary screenings and consultations during nutrition camps, providing actionable health guidance.
Enhanced Campus Health Culture: Raised the profile of nutrition as a key wellness issue and created a practical platform for student leadership in public health communication.
My Role: Project Coordinator & Core Operations Lead
As a founding core member and Project Coordinator, I was instrumental in transforming the concept into a fully operational center. My role encompassed end-to-end project management, from strategic planning and team mobilization to on-the-ground execution and impact assessment

A two-day community health campaign focused on combating Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) among vulnerable groups, particularly women and adolescents. The initiative combined nutrition education, awareness sessions, and practical interventions to address dietary gaps and improve iron intake at the grassroots level.
Objective:
To reduce the prevalence of Iron Deficiency Anemia through targeted awareness, distribution of iron supplements, and promotion of fortified foods in underserved communities.
Execution:
The project was executed as a two-day intensive campaign that included:
· Interactive workshops and seminars in university.
· Free counseling camps providing dietary guidance and anemia screening.
· Demonstrations and sampling of iron-rich products such as Vitoboost (beetroot-based iron powder) and iron-fortified wheat flour.
· Collaboration with local health workers and use of print media to amplify reach.
Result:
The campaign successfully engaged over 300 community members, demonstrate supplements to 150+ individuals, and raised measurable awareness about IDA prevention. Post-campaign surveys indicated increased knowledge of iron-rich diets and a commitment from local authorities to explore sustained fortification programs.
