Hello,
My name is Md Abul Hasanath. I was born in the latter decade of the nineteenth century in Bangladesh. By profession, I am a civil and environmental engineer, researcher, and academician.
Career
Currently, I am a PhD researcher in Civil and Environmental Engineering at IIT Hyderabad, India. My career began in 2015 as a junior civil engineer with DOHWA, a South Korean engineering consulting firm, where I worked on a design project for the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority. Two years later, I transitioned to academia, teaching civil engineering courses at a university, an institution, and several colleges in Bangladesh. Alongside teaching and research, I have also contributed to various civil engineering design projects. My goal is to become a prominent researcher, a productive consultant, and an impactful instructor
My academic and research interests center on Civil and Environmental Engineering, a broad field that encompasses several critical areas. My research interests include wastewater treatment, phycoremediation, nutrient recovery, water pollution, green concrete, waste-based building blocks, biochar, trash reduction, soil pollution, biofuel, sludge management, nutrient recovery, emerging contaminants, life cycle assessment, reverse osmosis, EIA, LCA, bio-circular economy, and sustainability.
Research Interests
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with a major in structural engineering and a minor in environmental engineering. Subsequently, I earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental) from DUET, a leading engineering institution in Bangladesh. Inspired by Albert Einstein's quote, 'The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know,' I was motivated to pursue further studies. This led me to BUET, the top-ranked engineering university in Bangladesh, where I began my PhD. During my first theoretical semester at BUET, I was awarded the prestigious FIRST@IITH international research scholar award at IIT Hyderabad in India.
I am driven by a desire to empower rural communities through practical applications of engineering and technology. While scientific research benefits everyone, its impact is limited if it remains inaccessible to those who need it most. I am committed to translating complex scientific concepts into actionable knowledge that rural people can understand and use to protect their land. I believe in paving the way for rural communities to become active participants in sustainable development
