Privacy Policy for Harvest
Last updated: March 2026
Harvest is a recipe management app developed by Jim Thompson. This privacy policy explains how the app handles your information.
Information We Collect
Harvest does not collect or transmit any personal information to our servers. Recipes you save, your shopping list, and your usage data are stored locally on your device and synced privately via your personal iCloud account.
Recipe Content
When you use the browser extension or recipe scanner, the app accesses web page content or camera images at your explicit direction in order to extract recipe information. When you use the Food ID or calorie estimation features, ingredient names and serving information from your recipes are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate results. All content is processed solely to provide the requested feature and is not stored by us or used for any other purpose.
Calorie Estimates
Calorie information displayed in Harvest is estimated by Anthropic's Claude AI based on your recipe's ingredient list. These figures are approximations assuming standard home-cooked portions and are not verified nutritional data. They should not be relied upon for medical, dietary, or health-related decisions.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Subscription and purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Harvest does not process or store any payment information.
Third Party Services
Harvest uses the Anthropic Claude API for AI-powered features including recipe scanning, food identification, and calorie estimation. Please refer to Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com for information on how API requests are handled.
Children's Privacy
Harvest is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
