Sociolinguistics, Linguistic Anthropology and Social Interaction Theory
場面らしさ、集団らしさが相互行為的な共在を通して形作られていく様相に関心があります。
I’m interested in how people shape communication space or groupness through social interaction, including written and spoken language, and bodily behaviour.
また中高生のころから言語教育に関心があり、現在は日本語教師の養成に教壇実習や講義の形で携わっています。
Also, having had a passion for language education since childhood, I'm involved in a Japanese teacher training program.
これまでの研究対象は以下通りです。これらの研究の多くは、学内外の研究者と一緒に行っている共同研究です。
Below are my research topics so far. I have conducted most of them through joint research.
地域社会の公共空間で起こるコミュニケーション Communication in vernacular public places
広島県呉市の島しょ地域、長野県下伊那郡天龍村、茨城県日立市などで調査をしてきました。I have conducted field research in the island regions of Kure City (Hiroshima Prefecture), Tenryu Village (Nagano Prefecture), and Hitachi City (Ibaraki Prefecture).
主な調査先は、商店、移動販売、交流拠点となるような休憩スペースといった「地域のなじみの場」です。 The main research focus is small grocery stores, mobile supermarkets, and spaces for communication in the village, or “vernacular public places in rural areas.”
オンラインのビデオ会話 Video-mediated communication
オンラインという、対面会話よりも制限されたコミュニケーション環境のなかで、人々がどのようにカメラを利用して会話をしているのか分析してきました。In video-mediated communication, which has fewer resources compared to in-person interaction, I have analyzed how people organize their communication, focusing on using webcams.

オンライン日本語教室での漢字指導 Kanji teaching in online Japanese lessons
言語社会化としてのアカデミック・ライティング Academic writing practices as language socialization
コーパスを利用した量的調査をもとに、大学生のレポートと学術論文の比較分析を行ってきました。Drawing on quantitative corpus analysis, I have conducted a comparative study between university student reports and academic journal articles.
「考える」「考えられる」などの文末に使用されるモダリティ表現 Modality expressions that appear at the end of sentences, such as "kangaeru" and "kangaerareru"

言語教育場面や接触場面の会話 Communication in language teaching and contact settings
会話練習場面のデータから、母語話者側がどのように会話を進めているか、量的／質的に分析してきました。Using dat afrom conversation practice sessions, I have analyzed, both quantitatively and qualitatively, how native speaker manage the flow of interaction.
日本語アセスメント場面のデータから、相互行為能力について分析をしてきました。Using data from language assessment settings, I have demonstrated the practice of the interactional competence.
