Major Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineer (Computer) at the Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT), University of Dhaka plays a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the institute's ICT infrastructure. This position is typically situated within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cell, focusing on the development, maintenance, and security of the institute's computer systems and networks.​

1. System and Network Administration

• Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various servers, including DNS, RStudio Server, Jupyter Server, File Server, and Mail Servers.

• Administer IP PBX systems, virtual servers, and other Linux-based infrastructures.

• Manage and monitor network devices such as routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, and switches.​

2. Security and Compliance

• Implement and enforce cybersecurity measures to protect university data and systems.

• Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and university policies.​

3. Technical Support and Training

• Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students regarding hardware and software issues.

• Develop and deliver training sessions to enhance ICT literacy within the university community.​

4. Project Management and Collaboration

• Assist in planning and executing ICT projects, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals.

• Collaborate with other departments to integrate ICT solutions that meet diverse academic and administrative needs.

5. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain comprehensive records of system configurations, network diagrams, and support activities.

• Prepare regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and project progress for university leadership.
