British Rowing Gloucestershire Learn To Row
British Rowing's Gloucestershire Performance Development Academy are hosting another Learn To Row week due to the success of it's previous. The course will run from Monday 28th October to Thursday 31st October, from 9am till 1pm each day.
The course will be a mix of both land and water training sessions, delivered by our coaching team.
Please sign up to the course with the link here - Learn To Row Sign-Up.
Who are we?
We are a High-Performance Rowing Centre, supported by both British Rowing and Hartpury University and College. Through this partnership our aim is to identify both hidden and current talent in Gloucestershire, helping to create an environment where these individuals can thrive in the sport, and hopefully one day represent Great Britain on the International Stage.
You can view our success stories here.
What does the course involve?
The course will be a mix of both land and water sessions. On the land we will use rowing machines to practice the basics prior to going onto the water, as well as running through varied warm-ups and ice breakers. The water sessions will range from crew boats (2 or 4 people), to singles (by yourself!), running through the basics of a rowing stroke receiving coaching from our team.
What will I need to bring?
We recommend bringing a spare change of clothes (just in case!). Light clothing is best, as well as not loose fitting clothing as these can get caught in the handles! So leggings/shorts, thermals/T-Shirts (we try avoid hoodies). Depending on the weather you may also want waterproofs.
What happens after the course?
If you feel like you want to pursue the sport further, there are a number of different paths which you can go down. Whether you want to continue on a more recreational basis or are looking to pursue the sport competitivley.
What is the cost of the course?
We are offering a heavily subsidised price this year. There will be a charge of £60 per attendee.
