Professor Maidenhair’s Scouring Charm and DIY Hand Cleaner Recipe

Scourgify is one of the cleaning charms, used to clean foreign material off surfaces.

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, we see it a couple of times; Tonks uses it with limited results to clean Hedwig's cage (she admits that she's not very good at that); and Ginny uses it to clean up the Stinksap that Neville's Mimbulus Mimbletonia has sprayed around the compartment of the Hogwarts Express. It is also used to "wash out" a young Snape's mouth in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Recipe for DIY Hand Cleaner

1. Mix equal parts aloe vera gel and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl.

2. Optional: Add 1 Tablespoon glycerin which helps the ingredients blend together smoothly.

3. Add 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil and six drops of tea tree oil along with a drop or two of any other oils you want to add for scent.

4. Mix well and add distilled water (or colloidal/ionic silver) to thin to desired consistency.
