A standard method of both travel and utility in the game Polaris 13. The team asked me to model a standard grappling hook and create a tileable texture that could be used on an ever-extending rope in-game.
The grappling hook was first created in 3DS Max. This was then exported into Z-Brush to create the edge trims using the trim-dynamic brush. The stylised edges complimented the game's cartoon-like art style.
The tileable rope texture was created within Adobe Substance Painter. It was created from a rotated coil texture, with the addition of some curvature and wood grain details.
