In order to foster positive reading habits, we give students time to read for 10-15 minutes every single day. Reading and literacy go hand in hand, so this is a priority.
Encourage students to read at home, especially if they are absent or on break from school.
Like reading, writing is essential for building students' literacy. Keeping a journal is an excellent way to cultivate writing skills and track improvement over time.
Providing students with their own journal can inspire self-motivated practice that transcends the walls of their classrooms.

Our students practice essential reading skills through an online platform called Lexia PowerUp Literacy. PowerUp delivers individualized lessons to help students with word study, grammar, and reading comprehension.
For extra practice or homework, set aside time for students to practice in PowerUp. Students can access the program through Clever.
Imagine the possibilities if we work together.
