When choosing a photographer for your needs and special events, there are a few factors to consider and to NOT consider.

The 1st to consider is: Do I/we like the style of the photos produced by this photographer? Most photographers have a slightly different style/technique when taking the photos as well as edited finished files.

Next, you will want to know if the personality of the person/persons being photographed will "click" (pun truly intended). The comfort level of the photographed subjects and photographer depend on it! The more comfortable each party is during the shoot, the better the photos will turn out. The session will be more fun as well.

Another thing to consider is professionalism. Does the photographer show true professional behaviors when meeting with them? By this I mean, are they knowledgeable in their own business? Are they prepared for the consultation? Did they reschedule too many times? etc.

One more thought to consider is the photographers area of expertise, excitement, and creativity. When looking at a portfolio, a client should be able to see where the "favorite" style of photos lie. The reason why this is important is that your session will be more fun, and the finished photos will be more than expected. Most photographers have a favorite style of photos to shoot as well as a knack for certain subject matters. However, if your personality meshes well with the photographer and the photographer shows great professionalism, most of the time the photo session type won't matter.

Wait, she said there was something to NOT consider...

Investment and amount of time as a photographer are two things I wouldn't stake a claim in getting the "perfect" session and photos. Some photographers are clearly and simply talented with the craft of photographing. Others simply love doing the craft so much that they will not charge you an arm and a leg. Others feel their business is MUCH more important for making money than producing exactly what the client and photographer agreed to.

With the above thoughts in mind, I hope to be working with many of you in the future. Please be sure to browse my site and set up a free consultation to see if we are a match to creating the perfect memories for you and/or your family.

A few side notes: All photos you receive will be edited at a basic level - all major blemishes (as best as can be) and color adjustments. All locations beyond the Rapid City and Sturgis boundaries will include a $0.40 surcharge. Any file from your session can be ordered as a professional print from me (see Ala Cart page).
